A group of Grey Bruce missionaries doing relief work in earthquake stricken Haiti have just e-mailed another update on the situation in that country.
The 53 members with the Sauble Christian Fellowship Church — including South Bruce Peninsula Mayor Gwen Gilbert — were 45 minutes from the capital where the devastating earthquake hit on Tuesday.
Pastor David Oppertshauser is in Haiti and today says everyone is fine and holding up okay.
He says they are sleeping out doors in tents so they are safe.
Pastor Dave says the group have put a steel beam in the kitchen area of the guest house so they can now to use it again for preparing meals.
He says they have been working non-stop at the emergency clinic.
Meanwhile, Church spokesperson Kathy Hauer says Pastor David Oppertshauser reports some “bumps and bruises” but everyone is fine and holding up well.
Hauer says the orphans at the Mission of Hope refuse to sleep in any buildings and tend to panic when after-shocks are felt.
Hauer says the group has asked that any donations be made locally to the Church or online at the Mission of Hope website at www.missionofhopehaiti.com
She says 100 per cent of the money donated will get to Pastor Dave and the group in Haiti to help out in the disaster.
