For the second time this month, Grey County OPP are warning you about a cheque scam.
Constable Steven Starr says at least 3 local residents have received a package in the mail from a company calling itself Life Styles Solutions Inc.
The package is a job offer to work for the company as a mystery shopper.
It outlines the first assignment – which includes ‘testing’ the effectiveness and
efficiency of the Western Union payment system.
A bogus bank draft in the amount of 25-hundred dollars accompanies the
instructions with a breakdown of fees including a 200-dollar wage for the intended victim.
Police warn that because the cheque is not legitimate it ultimately bounces, leaving the victim to cover the cost of the money forwarded.
Contact numbers and the address given for the company do not exist and police say their services are nowhere to be found when the dust settles.
Constable Starr says don’t be rushed when considering an offer like this, but do some research – and if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
