Chatsworth Council is holding a special meeting today.
Council will vote on a bylaw to allow a hybrid ward system for next year’s municipal election.
Under the proposal — the Mayor and Deputy Mayor would be elected at large and Councillors would be elected from three wards instead of the current four.
Mayor Howard Greig hopes this plan will alleviate some concerns after half a dozen residents appealed Council’s earlier decision to move to an at-large system of voting.
Any changes for next fall’s election would have to be made by January 1st and the Ontario Municipal Board would not be able to hear the appeal in time.
