The albino groundhog from Wiarton will make his annual weather prediction in style this year.
The Town of South Bruce Peninsula will receive 15 thousand dollars from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to improve the 54th Annual Wiarton Willie Festival.
South Bruce Peninsula Councillor Yvonne Harron says the money will go towards staging and lighting at the prediction ceremony on February 2nd.
There are several changes to the groundhog festival — as the prediction will take place by the waterfront at Bluewater Park in Wiarton.
Several other festival activities will take place on February 2nd — like the Wiarton Willie Parade — instead of on the weekend prior to Groundhog Day.
The festival will run from February 2nd to the 7th, 2010.
Harron says the festival is shaping up to be a really great one and they really appreciate the extra funds.
