Police are investigating an ultralight plane crash near the Billy Bishop airport in Owen Sound.
Grey County OPP report the 2003 “Challenger II” advanced ultralight crashed into a tree in Meaford while approaching the airport at 12:15 PM Thursday.
The aircraft — piloted by an 83 year old man from Orillia — had taken off from the Collingwood airport.
Police say prevailing winds were strong at the time of the landing.
The aircraft sustained significant damage — and it was hung up in a large tree for a period of time before it fell to the ground upside down.
But Police say the pilot escaped with minor injuries.
The OPP have notified Transport Canada and the Transportation Safety Board.
