The annual Superwalk for Parkinsons takes place in Kincardine on Sunday.
Coordinator Norma Kempers says registration at Victoria Park starts at 1 PM.
There’s an opening ceremony at 1:45 PM and then the fundraising on foot starts at 2 PM.
There are also Superwalks in Hanover and Owen Sound this weekend.
There is a two and five kilometre route that goes through residential areas of town, and is wheelchair accessible.
Kempers says Parkinsons Disease is an increasing concern and that more younger people are being diagnosed.
Kempers says part of the money raised goes to research and that there are seven different research projects currently underway involving people in southwestern Ontario.
She says the money also goes to a program that helps train caregivers in the intricacies of Parkinson’s disease.
Last year, the Kincardine Superwalk raised 19 thousand dollars.
Volunteers to help out with the Kincardine walk are always welcome, and more are wanted from Saugeen Shores.
If you want to volunteer, give Norma Kempers a call at 519-368-7459.
If you want to take part in the walk, pick up a pledge form at one of the many sponsoring businesses in Kincardine and Port Elgin.
