The next phase of non-profit housing in Owen Sound will receive a boost from the city.
Council has decided to waive fees related to the next phase, which is expected to get underway this fall in the northeast section of Owen Sound.
The value of the fees being waived is more than 37 thousand dollars and includes building and plumbing permits as well as site plan fees.
Three years ago — the city waived the fees related to the first phase of the development, a 34-unit project which has since been completed on 6th Avenue East.
The new phase will comprise 26 units and be built adjacent to the first development.
The city, in waiving the fees to allow construction to get underway, will recoup the money through taxes.
