The fire is out at a restaurant in Meaford — but two firefighters are in hospital recovering from smoke inhalation.
The Meaford Fire Department first responded to 27 Nelson Street around 6 o’clock this morning where they found flames shooting from an old building.
The building is home to Reeds Restaurant and an upstairs apartment.
Grey County OPP were called around 6:19 AM and they tell us no one was home at the time of the blaze.
Two firefighters were sent to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
One firefighter — a 32 year old man — was transferred to Owen Sound hospital..and both are now in stable condition.
The back of the building received extensive damage but wasn’t destroyed.
So far — no word on a cause.
The Ontario Fire Marshall and the Ministry of Labour have been called in to investigate.
And Grey County OPP will be conducting door to door interviews in the neighbourhood looking for more witnesses.
