Sauble Beach is getting ready for some fun in the sun this weekend.
South Bruce Peninsula Event Coordinator Shane Sargent says the event has ran for 10 years, traditionally just on the first Saturday after the Civic Holiday Weekend.
But this year, the Chamber of Commerce and the town decided to make the event bigger and better and go for three days.
Things got underway Friday evening with a live classic rock dance.
On Saturday afternoon, there is 50’s and 60’s music, top-rated Beatles tribute band the Caverners perform, while Sunday features the Dickie Bird show for the kids.
There is also a kid’s arts and crafts tent on Sunday.
Other events include the always popular classic car show, beach volleyball, family bocce ball tournament, and a family sand castle competition.
Sargent says Sandfest is great for families because admission is free.
A charitible donation is necessary to enter the sand castle competition and there is a fee to enter the beach volleyball and bocce tournaments, otherwise, he says to bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy free entertainment.
Sandfest is regarded as Sauble Beach’s signature summer event and is a way of celebrating the beach’s ranking as one of the top ten in Canada.
All Sandfest activities take place at the north end of Sauble Beach.
