The building stats for June in Huron Kinloss are out.
Chief Building Official Matt Farrell says June was a fairly busy month as they issued 18 permits.
Work started on a new 18-unit senior citizen’s housing development in Lucknow worth 1.2 million dollars.
There were also four new single family dwellings, making up the bulk of the 2.8 million dollar total new construction value for the month.
Farrell says things started out slow for 2009 because of the state of the economy.
But he notes things picked up and have become steady since warmer weather arrived in the middle of April.
The value of new construction in Huron-Kinloss so far this year is over 6.7 million dollars.
That compares to 8.5 million for the first six months of 2008.
