Larry Miller is ticked off.
The Bruce Grey Owen Sound Conservative MP is upset with damage to the newly repaired public government dock at Howdenvale on the Lake Huron shore of the Bruce Peninsula.
He says it appears that heavy equipment used by commercial fishermen unloading their boats has resulted in the damage to the new 30 thousand dollar dock.
Miller says the dock was broken from running a forklift on them.
He says the forklift is sitting on the dock, along with dozens of fish crates and out at the end of the dock is an old pickup truck.
Miller wants Fisheries and Oceans to put up a cement barricade be put up to prevent vehicles and heavy equipment from being driven onto the dock.
He says this is a safety issue as a small child could get their foot caught in one of the spots where the decking is broken.
Miller says the way it is now, the commercial fishermen have basically taken over a public dock and he says public property is for public use.
He also feels the commercial fishermen who caused the damage should be billed for the fix up of the dock, and if the abuse continues they should be banned from using the facility altogether.
