A breach of trust charge has been withdrawn against the deputy mayor of Brockton.
But allegations of theft from the liquor store he managed appear to be moving ahead in court.
52 year old Roland Anstett — the manager of the LCBO in Walkerton — was charged last month with breach of trust and theft under five thousand dollars.
Crown attorney Jill Macintyre withdrew the breach of trust charge, saying that it `didn’t fit.’
However, the theft charge was put over to June 1st.
Anstett was not in court during the brief proceedings, but he has said in the past the charge is a misunderstanding related to liquor store cash handling procedures.
Anstett has been with the LCBO for 32 years and has served several terms on council — including during the E. coli water crisis in 2000.
