Council has given approval in principle to an offer from the Scenic City Order of Good Cheer for the group to build a 200 thousand dollar splash pad next year.
But the City still wants details on a location and the operating and maintenance costs before giving final approval.
The City would be on the hook for those ongoing costs.
Mayor Ruth Lovell Stanners says this is a wonderful gesture on part of the Scenic City Order of Good Cheer
Lovell Stanners says although it still needs examination on details, it will be great fun for children in the area.
She says the splash pad will be free and accessible for everyone.
Stanners says they will be deciding on a location between the heart of downtown, Kelso Beach Park or The Harry-Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
