Plenty of support being shown for a local family of a boy seriously injured in a snowboard accident in December.
Organizers of a fundraiser tonight in Owen Sound are thrilled with the success of the event for 13 year old Ian Hyland who’s now paralysed.
The family, already strapped with huge medical bills, is forced to be in Toronto much of the time paying their mortgage at home and more than 15 hundred dollars in living expenses in the city each month.
Family friend Richard LeBlanc says they were hoping to sell about 90 tables at tonight’s Euchre fundraiser at the Owen Sound Legion and at last report they’d sold more than 80.
He says recovery for Ian is a slow process as he’s currently only able to move one of his arms.
There are several other fundraisers in the works including a Trivia night March 11th being organized by Ian’s fellow students at Hillcrest.
There’s also a trust fund set up for the family at Meridian Bank — just mention Ian Hyland’s name.
If people want to make a cash donation — they can also call Dunn’s Electric.
