The Manager of Emergency Medical Services in Huron County is concerned over the reduced hours of operation at Seaforth Community Hospital.
David Lew says they’re concerned the emergency room won’t be able to open their doors in time for the estimated three month deadline.
He says they’re worried about what will have to be done if the hospital can’t re-open for the full 24 hours in May.
Lew says they may have to find a permanent spot for an ambulance to take care of any emergencies that happen through the night.
Lew says many hospitals in the region are going through doctor and nurse shortages, and they don’t want other hospitals taking the same route and reducing their operating hours.
He says to remedy the situation for now, they’ve changed the hours for an EMS vehicle to be in the Seaforth area past the eight o’clock PM closing time of the ER.
