The debate continues over a plan to rename a section of a street in Kincardine.
Nick Toth, a resident of McGaw Drive says he’d like to see the name of Campbell Avenue stay on the section north of Russell Street, and have the section south of there be called McGaw.
The current proposal is to rename the entire street McGaw Drive.
Toth says it would be a major inconvenience for those living north of Russell Street to have to change all of their personal documents and accounts to a new address.
Municipal Officials had wanted to change the street name to make 911 emergency response easier.
Toth says he’s checked the manual officials use and there’s nothing in it that says street names need to be changed to conform to 911 preparedness.
Toth says he cannot understand why there is a desire to change the name. He says the matter has gone on long enough and it is time for it to be taken care of once and for all.
