The Town of South Bruce Peninsula is looking for some public feedback about their recreation and leisure services.
Recreation Programmer Mike Squier has put together a survey regarding facility use, familiarity with services, options for different age groups, and suggestions for the future.
Squier says the town has been without a recreation programmer for about 15 years and so this information has essentially never been collected.
Squier says the survey is the first step toward the creation of an Official Recreation Plan.
He says there is no agenda or definite project in the works – instead, they’re just laying the groundwork for the town to get back in the recreation game.
Squier is expecting survey responses to draw attention to a lack of programming for seniors and youth.
He says right now, the town has an arena, an outdoor pool, and a school gymnasium, but no fitness centre.
With space at a premium, the only programming offered through the town were swimming lessons.
Squire says 550 surveys have been sent out to residents with their tax notifications.
Those who are interested but did not receive one can request one from the town.
He’s hoping to have all responses in by February 27th – they can be dropped off at the town offices, Soloway’s IGA, or Miller’s Home Hardware.
