A group promoting locally produced food is asking upper-tier municipal governments for help.
The Grey Bruce Agriculture and Culinary Association came to a recent meeting of the Bruce County Agriculture, Tourism, and Planning committee.
Vice-Chair Jenny Amy went in front of the committee in asking for a donation of 20 thousand dollars to help cover some of the shortfall of their 2009 operating budget.
The Association will be asking Grey County for another 20 thousand dollars.
Amy says they are hoping to produce a new 2009 Agriculture and Culinary Map, newsletters, and four Field to Fork feasts.
She says they are also looking to expand their membership this year from 175 to 225.
Amy says they had the funding in place last year including a Job Creation Plan grant.
But she says they are looking at Bruce and Grey Counties to make a contribution to the organization.
Amy says they raised 4 thousand dollars at their first Field to Fork feast in Owen Sound last November.
She says 650 people turned up and the cost of the event was whatever you can afford.
She says some people paid as much as 100 dollars while others only had 50 cents.
The A-T-P committee will discuss the donation during the 2009 budget deliberations.
