Grey Bruce Health Services are currently in the top ten for low MRI and CT wait times
Their current MRI wait time is 29 days – third lowest in the Province.
CT wait time is 17 days which ranks ninth in the Province.
Interim President and CEO Maureen Solecki says she is very pleased with the results.
Solecki says the report means staff are working very hard to try and maximize the use of their machines.
She says if there are any cancellations other patients on the waiting list are called in to get access as soon as possible.
Solecki says they have seen a significant growth in procedures since they have extended their hours of operation.
She says last year they conducted around 8,000 procedures and thinks they are headed for 10,000 or more by the end of this fiscal year.
Solecki says prior to having an MRI service in the region, patients would wait as long as a year for the scan.
She says for patients to only wait weeks instead of months is very significant.
