Conservative MP Larry Miller announced 10.1 million dollars in funding this morning and says the provincial and municipal governments will each have to match that amount.
It’s timely news for Meaford who will receive over 464 thousand dollars to replace the bridge in Bognor that has been closed since October.
The town of Hanover is getting 3 and a half million dollars from the feds to build a new recreation complex to replace the aging Coliseum.
South Bruce Peninsula will also receive 3 million dollars from the federal government to installs sewers at Sauble Beach.
A number of other communities will receive funding to replace bridges and upgrade water treatment plants and community centres.
Miller says the funding will go a long way to improving the local economy.
The local Conservative MP also says his riding received a fair amount of the funding from the government — more than other ridings in Ontario.
Local MPP Bill Murdoch says repairing and building roads, bridges and sewer systems is just the kind of stimulus that will have a lasting impact.
