Councillors in Saugeen Shores are meeting this morning to begin two days of developing this year’s municipal budget.
Treasurer Lori Sweiger says the budget in its current form would mean a 10 percent increase in the tax rate.
That of course will likely change, based on whatever councillors decide should be cut.
Mayor Mike Smith says there will be some challenging and difficult decisions made during this year’s budget process.
He says Saugeen Shores is not immune from the problems affecting the economy and budget decisions have to be made with that in mind.
Smith says the process will be difficult, but he’s confident about reaching achieving results.
Saugeen Shores budget discussions are open to the public and take place today and tomorrow in the council chambers at the Plex in Port Elgin.
