Major progress is being made on completing the Rail Trail system in Saugeen Shores.
Trail Association Chair Bruce Alexander in 2008 they secured funding from Bruce County to cover one-third of the cost of upgrading the Mill Creek Bridge to accomadate the trail.
He says the rest of the funding is being covered by donations from the Society of Energy Professionals, the Port Elgin Rotary Club, and the Rail Trail Association.
He says that will complete an important piece of the system and allow Saugeen Shores to be linked with the rest of Bruce County’s trails that extend to Mildmay and Kincardine.
He says they’re looking forward to completing the connection with MacGregor Point Provincial Park and Kincardine this year.
