19 year old Shawn Dyer was given 9 months in jail on a charge of aggravated assault.
That is in addition to his 5 months in pre-trial custody.
Dyer was also given 2 years probation.
Last July a 42 year old Toronto man was beaten, stabbed and robbed on an Owen Sound street.
Police say the victim was falsely accused of rape by a woman who had been drinking.
She hit him and used racial slurs against him, while the victim defended himself and called police.
Several men then joined in, attacking the Toronto man who was stabbed at least once in the chest during the attack. He managed to get a cab and was taken to hospital.
The 17 year old girl who accused the man of rape, pleaded guilty earlier to assault and was given 2 years probation.
3 other young men who were charged in the case, …
Cody Doherty, Blaine McEachern … and William Werner all of Owen Sound have also been convicted of aggravated assault.
However, all 3 were sentenced to 1 day in jail on top of the 5 months they have already been in custody.
