Bruce Peninsula OPP are on the move.
Officers and staff from the Bruce Peninsula detachment are moving today into a new office on Highway 6 at the south end of Wiarton.
Constable Dave Meyer says they have already started to move some boxes and furniture, but the bulk of the move will be done today.
Meyer says the new home will be a relief to officers and staff as they have been crammed into the current office.
Meyer notes the new office building is six times larger than the old office.
Bruce Peninsula OPP have been in the current office since the late 1960’s and it was only intended for 6 to 8 officers.
Now there are 30 police officers in the Bruce Peninsula detachment.
The OPP office in Wiarton will be closed for administrative services today — but Meyer says they will obviously still handle 9-1-1 calls.
A flag raising ceremony will be held at 4 PM today at the new office and Meyer says they will be open in the new location tomorrow
An official opening ceremony for the public will be held in the summer.
