Organizers were hoping to raise 50 thousand dollars from their three walks in Owen Sound, Port Elgin and Hanover.
Community Development Co-ordinator Bill Twaddle says they raised almost 68 thousand dollars.
That is almost double the 39 thousand raised last year.
More than 140 people participated in this year’s fundraiser.
Twaddle says they are so grateful to the people of Grey Bruce who supported the campaign.
Twaddle credits the strong response to the fact they have been straight forward with people about their growing need for financial help.
He says people have shown they understand the need and they responded with amazing results on the weekend.
The Alzheimer’s Society of Grey Bruce budgeted to raise 90 thousand dollars in donations this fiscal year.
Twaddle says they are 39 thousand dollars ahead of last year’s pace.
Twaddle notes they have also applied for funding help from the South West Local Health Integration Network.
The Owen Sound walk this year raised 33 thousand dollars — the most ever.
The Hanover walkers raised 20 thousand dollars while the Port Elgin walk — in only its second year — raised $14,600, compared to 4 thousand last year.
