The albino groundhog is making this year an unforgettable one.
The 53rd Annual Wiarton Willie Festival begins tonight with a Kids Dance at the Meeting Place.
The festival resumes tomorrow night and continues all weekend until the Prediction ceremony on Monday.
Economic Development Officer for the Town of South Bruce Peninsula, Danielle Mulasmajic says this year they are gearing towards bringing out a younger crowd.
Mulasmajic says they are trying to get more youth involved and enthused to participate again next year.
She says one way they are appealing to younger people is through Canadian Idol runner up – Drew Wright.
Mulasmajic says Wright will be singing the National Anthem at the No Stars Hockey Game.
Wright will also be performing two songs before Willie makes his prediction on Monday morning.
Mulasmajic says although the prediction is on a Monday, the crowd turnout should still be a large one.
She says Willie Weekend is significant because it gives a distraction to winter.
Mulasmajic says the first indication of spring is a long one and this gives people a chance to get out and have fun.
Chair Person for the festival, Sharon Watts says there is one late event that did not get included in the flyer.
Watts say there will be a chainsaw carving event on Saturday and Sunday at the Blue Water Park.
Watts says a local woman, Bobbi Switzer, will be carving a bench in the shape of Willie.
