The snowmobile spotlight is on Grey Bruce this week.
The crew from Snow Trax Television — North America’s Most Watched Snowmobile Show — are here to highlight the region.
Bruce County Tourism Manager Chris Hughes says this year, they will showcase the services and personalities that make Grey Bruce a great place to ride.
He says the geography and hospitality in Grey Bruce make this a great place to ride a snowmobile.
Hughes says what makes our region is unique is people can ride from door to door — they don’t have to drive somewhere with their trailer.
He notes the snowmobile clubs are also a tight knit community that host steak and wing nights with other sledders.
The Snow Trax crew arrived last night and will stay for the rest of the week.
Hughes says the crew will ride the trails, meet the Flying Dutchmen snowmobile race team and some of the local club members “that make snowmobiling tick.”
They will also meet members of the Owen Sound Attack OHL team, spend a night in the bush to learn winter survival skills and take a helicopter ride to see the trails.
Hughes says the snowmobile season is starting to get busy as the trails improve.
Hughes says they received too much snow too early — but now the trails have a good base and are in good condition.
He adds 8 solid weeks of snowmobile riding will make this a great season.
