Good news for Saugeen Shores residents in need of a doctor.
Council has approved an agreement with a new doctor who will soon be setting up a practice at the Saugeen Shores Medical Building in Port Elgin.
Mayor Mike Smith says Dr. Christine Miller-Hart’s decision to locate in town is great news.
He says it shows developing a new medical clinic in Port Elgin was the right thing to do because doctors want to work in an attractive, communal setting.
Smith says Saugeen Shores was an underserviced area until last year and efforts will continue to recruit more doctors.
He’s pleased the Doctor Recruitment Committee has been successful again.
Dr. Miller Hart will begin her work in Port Elgin in February.
