MP’s return to work today after a 55 day break following the Governor General’s decision to prorogue Parliament.
The decision by Governor General Michaelle Jean to grant Prime Minister Stephen Harper permission to prorogue Parliament had a lot of support locally.
More than 200 people responded to the two week survey online and 65 per cent of them supported the decision.
Many people didn’t like the idea of a Liberal – NDP – Bloc Quebecois Coalition government.
They also didn’t want to have another election after just voting in the fall.
But many of the respondents who didn’t support the decision were critical of Stephen Harper and his government’s fiscal statement.
An election is still possible as the government faces the risk of getting toppled over its budget that will be introduced tomorrow.
