A lot of organizations will be reaping the rewards from the 2008 International Plowing Match.
2008 IPM Chair Jack Riley and Treasurer Gloria Bell both came to Bruce Countys Highways meeting Thursday in Walkerton.
They presented a cheque for 25 thousand dollars to EMS Director Doug Smith for having their paramedics available during the IPM.
Riley says they also gave 5 thousand dollars to the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie for use of the Paisley Hall for their meetings and the Chesley Community Centre for their Beautification Banquet.
He says the municipality then turned that money over to the medical clinic in Chesley.
Once the bills were paid, the IPM committee finished with a profit of over 820 thousand dollars.
Riley says the amount of money raised during the IPM shows how hard their volunteers worked in the four years leading up to the event.
He says they have put in 7 thousand hours and — at 10 dollars an hour — will be giving 70 thousand dollars to them to be re-distributed to their respective non-profit organizations.
Riley says they still has 500 thousand left to hand out to hospitals and health care groups.
He says there will be a meeting on February 2nd to discuss how that money will be distributed.
Tens of thousands gathered in Teeswater this past September for the 2008 International Plowing Match.
