Grey Bruce Farmers week well underway at the Elmwood community centre and today is goat day.
Grey Bruce Agricultural Services official Ray Robertson says it was expanded into a full day event because of the rapid expansion of the dairy goat industry.
It promises to be a busy weekend as well with Saturday designated as Sheep day which Robertson says always is a popular event.
He says the highlight will be a talk by OMAFRA sheep and goat specialist Anita O’Brian who will deal with handling design features and a presentation by Keith Todd on the commercial Dairy sheep enterprise.
Robertson says the afternoon will deal with ecological issues and improving the microbiology of the soil.
Sunday traditionally has been horse day at Grey Bruce Farmers week and Robertson says the day is divided into a youth section and an adult program.
He says this is probably the most popular event of the whole week and attracts hundreds of horse enthusiasts.
The adult program will deal with issues like horse health and horse buying tips, while the youth program will feature a number of events including tack box building seminar.
Grey Bruce Farmers week continues on Monday and Tuesday with Beef and Crop day.
