It’s six days of everything you wanted to know about cattle, goats, sheep, horses and field crops.
The 2009 Grey Bruce farmers week kicks off today at the Elmwood Community centre and continues until Tuesday January 13th.
Ray Robertson is with Grey County Agricultural Services and says this year they have lined up a top line of expert speakers for each day of the event.
They will deal with everything from the expanding goat milk market to better care for horses and cattle to reducing imput costs and improving margins.
Robertson says by expanding the event to six full days they are able to offer area farmers more information sessions dealing with just about every aspect of the operation of a modern day farm.
He says they are excited about expanding goat day into a full day event because of the rapid expansion of the dairy goat industry.
Robertson says the Tuesday session dealing with crops will be of particular interest to a lot of Grey Bruce producers because of the roller coaster ride oils and grains and oil seeds sector has been on concerning prices.
In addition he says there will be a large trade show component of Grey Bruce Farmers week with more than 80 exhibitors.
