Hydro One continues to talk with landowners in the path of the proposed new Bruce to Milton transmission line about financial compensation.
Project Manager Gary Schneider says there’s no indication yet if all landowners accept what Hydro is offering, but he hopes they’ll be receptive.
Schneider says the offers are based on fair market value.
He says a landowner can receive nine thousand dollars for just signing the option agreement with Hydro One.
Schneider says once the Environmental Assessment for the Bruce to Milton line is finished, they plan to exercise their rights under the agreement and offer landowners another 15 percent above the fair market value as an added incentive.
There have been concerns that the new power line will lower the value of surrounding land. Schneider says efforts are being made to offset that.
He says during the appraisal process, an estimate was made on how the line would affect land values, and that has been worked into the compensation package.
Schneider says Hydro One will be holding meetings with each of the landowners in the path of the new Bruce to Milton transmission line.
