Grey County OPP say Robert Cunningham was staying with his mother in Georgian Bluffs, and left her home about 11:30 Wedesday morning to walk to a neighbours.
He was hit by a pickup truck on Grey road 17 near the intersection with Sideroad 315.
Neighbours came to help and Cunningham was later transported to Grey-Bruce Health Services Wiarton, where he was pronounced dead.
Grey Road 17 southeast of Wiarton, between Side Road 20 and Zion Church Road, was closed as O.P.P. Technical Traffic Investigators examined the scene for evidence.
The identity of the driver of the involved pickup truck is not being released at this point in this ongoing investigation.
Police were assisted at the scene by the Wiarton and Area Volunteer Fire Department.
The investigation is continuing.
