A Georgian Bluffs hunter is safe and sound after spending most of the night in the bush.
Just after midnight, Grey County OPP received a call from a woman claiming that her father had gone hunting at about 3 PM and not returned.
He had gone deer hunting in a familiar area with a crossbow on his all-terrain vehicle.
Police say a foot search ended up locating his crossbow and some blood, presumed to be from a wounded deer.
The Grey County OPP Canine Unit and the West Region emergency Response Team were called in at about 3 AM and located the man an hour and a half later.
According to police, the hunter had become disoriented while trying to track a deer he had shot.
Police say the man stopped his walking, built a fire and prepared to stay put until morning.
He was unharmed and in good spirits.
Grey County OPP media officer Constable Steve Starr says the man made a wise choice by stopping, and made their job easier.
