Gord Harris represents the company owning land near the intersection of Highways 21 and 9, including the site of the Days Inn that is currently being built.
In order for partners to secure financing to develop the parcel adjacent to the Days Inn, the two designated forest reserves have to be separate.
Harris wants to sell the one forest reserve back to the municipality for a dollar and then buy it back a week later.
Harris says another hotel could be built on the site and adds a citizen has appealed the plans to the Ontario Municipal Board.
