Saugeen Shores Council has approved a site plan agreement for the property of the new store, which will be located adjacent to the new Wal-Mart on the south side of town.
Local astronomy and conservation groups had expressed concern about the amount of light pollution from the new Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire area.
CAO Ron Brown says Canadian Tire has made changes that will significantly reduce the amount of light pollution from their new store.
He says staff will be developing a report on the overall inventory of light pollution in Saugeen Shores for council to examine in 2009.
