Hundreds of children will have smiles on their faces this Christmas thanks to the efforts of local fire departments.
The Owen Sound and Intertownship Fire Departments’ Toy Drives will be delivering toys right up until tonight.
Owen Sound Acting Captain Wayne Flood says they’ve collected enough toys for about 600 children.
He says delivering the toys to the families in need is a humbling experience.
Captain Flood says they also deliver toys to the surgery ward at the hospital as well as the Women’s shelter and anything they collect late…will go towards next year’s drive.
Meanwhile Intertownship Deputy Chief Dave Carruthers says so far they’ve been able to help Santa by delivering toys to 150 children.
He says they’ll continue to deliver..as long as they continue to get donations..right up until 4pm Christmas Eve.
