Chief Building Official Jim Bell says total values in November for building permits were at 2 million dollars.
A year ago in 2007, that number was more than double at 4.5 million dollars.
Bell says a drop in single family dwellings is a big cause.
The numbers year to date though are pretty comparible.
Construction values are at 59 million so far for 08, while they were only a million higher at 60 million dollars.
Again, Bell says, a drop in in single family dwellings reason is a reason for a drop, but that the 6.5 million dollar Wal-Mart build in Port Elgin, is a reason for being higher than it could have been.
Bell says with cold weather, comes slower times for contruction crews, but that 2009 is on par with years past.
