Concern over how Kincardine’s hospital is being governed will be front and centre at a public meeting on Tuesday evening.
Friends of Kincardine Hospital is trying to get community support to go ahead with efforts to withdraw the hospital from the South Bruce Grey Health Centre.
Spokesperson Greg McLelland says a movement is afoot to de-amalgamate, but they want widespread approval first.
McLelland says the South Bruce-Grey Health Centre is cutting services in Kincardine to help balance the budget.
He gives physiotherapy as the most recent example.
Friends of Kincardine Hospital are looking at forming a shadow hospital board that could eventually take control if the facility is allowed to de-amalgamate.
McLelland says that board isn’t in place yet, and they want community support at the meeting before deciding to go ahead with it.
He says names of people have been suggested for the parallel board.
McLelland says about 15 people are involved at the core of Friends of Kincardine Hospital, but up to 45 or 50 people could end up being connected in some way.
The public meeting starts at 7pm on Tuesday night at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine.
