Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Hanover and District received a cheque for 10 thousand dollars from the Ontario Ministry of Education last week.
The grant will allow Big Brothers and Big Sisters to hire a part time In School Mentoring Co-ordinator to attract new volunteers.
Executive Director Marg Wettlaufer says the goal is to work with more children.
The mentoring program has enjoyed some recent success in Hanover — 88 per cent of students showed improved literacy skills.
