Council has approved a request from the Heritage Committee and designated the lighthouse a Heritage Building.
The designation covers the exterior of the lighthouse, except for some renovations that were recently made. It also includes an anchor on display from a shipwreck.
Councillor Randy Roppel is pleased with the designation and says it’s unfortunate the lighthouse as a heritage building has been overlooked for so many years.
He says finally the recommendation has been made and council has agreed to grant the designation.
