Seventeen trees across Grey and Bruce Counties are going to be specially decorated with blue lights this holiday season.
The unique trees are part of the Alzheimer Society of Grey Bruce “Forget met Not” campaign.
Community Development Co-ordinator Bill Twaddle says the trees help people remember and honour people affected by Alzheimer’s and other related disorders.
Twaddle says the holiday time is one most associated with memories of family and friends.
He says it’s important to remember the people who can no longer enjoy their memories.
Twaddle says the public is being asked to show support by symbolically buying a bult on a tree.
He says it’s also a good way to spread awareness of the disease.
Money collected during the campaign will further the Society’s outreach efforts.
During the campaign, volunteers will be out in various locations accepting donations and providing income tax receipts.
In Owen Sound, miniature trees will be at A & P, Foodland, Zehr’s, and Canadian Tire on November 28th and 29th.
The newest tree in the campaign is in Lion’s Head, and a special commemoration ceremony will be held at 7 PM on Friday November 28th near the Post Office.
