It wasn’t the right place to build an eight-unit townhouse in Tiverton.
So says Kincardine councillor Randy Roppel who represents the Tiverton ward.
Roppel says he’s pleased the Ontario Municipal Board has turned down the two-storey four-plex and a one-storey eight unit townhouse development put forward by developer Tom Kerr.
Roppel says the parcel of land on McKay Street near Ross Street is part of the historic part of the village.
He says there are three things that could have gone there including an apartment, which is already there; a seniors complex or a park.
Roppel says his objection to the development and that of nearby neighbours does not mean Tiverton is closed for growth.
He says there are other parcels of land in the village that can be developed and prospective builders are welcome to investigate those.
There’s been no comment from developer Tom Kerr on the OMB decision.
