President and CEO Michael Roellinghoff said they are familiar with the market, having had a store here in the past but there are no plans to move into the vacant SAAN store on Goderich Street.
Roellinghoff did say they are opening an outlet in Kincardine in the former SAAN location there in the Sutton Park Mall.
That store is expected to be open in December.
Roellinghoff says their stores in Kincardine, Walkerton, Owen Sound and Meaford run very lean with 10 to 12 positions including management.
The outlets offer recognizable brand name good at inexpensive prices.
The Bargain Shop has opened up 65-stores in former SAAN locations across Canada.
He says with SAAN leaving these communities, it left a void that he felt The Bargain Shop could fill.
