South Bruce Peninsula Council is looking at ways to cut energy costs in the community.
Council had Ainsworth Inc. — an energy consulting company — complete a pre-audit report on some of the towns buildings.
Mayor Gwen Gilbert says Ainsworth came back with a report on 9 different town owned facilities which can be altered to be more energy efficient.
She says they looked at changing things like thermostats, heaters and installing new equipment like pumps.
Since the pre-audit report, council is going get a complete audit from Ainsworth.
Gilbert says with the total report, council can apply for grants to allow them to move ahead with the energy saving suggestions.
She says with the cost of energy going up, council wants to be more proactive in cutting costs.
Gilbert says they have to be accountable and aware of any places to save funds.
The complete audit will cost 9,200 dollars.
Gilbert says they hope to apply for the grants in the new year and go forward with changes in the spring.
