A new doctor recruiter in Brockton brings quite a lot of experience to the job.
Joe Rys served as the chair of the Brockton and Area Recruitment and Retention Committee for 3 and a half years.
He’s now taken on a volunteer position as the Committee’s recruiter.
Rys explains their professional recruiter left after getting a job with Bruce Power.
And while she was paid for her work as a recruiter, Rys is doing it for free.
He says he’s in a position where the money is of no consequence to him, although he’s pleased the Committee will be paying for any expenses involved in the job.
Rys says his goal is to bring at least one new family doctor to the Walkerton, Mildmay, and Paisley area within six months.
Rys says the last time a new doctor was came in was 13 years ago, but he still believes he has a good chance of achieving his ambitious goal.
He says his three and a half years on the Committee have given him a lot of insight and contacts.
Rys says he is also very familiar with the communities outside of healthcare, and that information will help him attract people to the lifestyle found there.
Maurice Donnelly, a former Warden of Bruce County, will serve as chair of the Brockton and Area Recruitment and Retention Committee on an interim basis.
