A Grey county raw-milk activist wants Ontario’s milk marketing board scrapped.
Durham area farmer, Michael Schmidt says it has done no research or even looked into the possible sale of certified raw milk.
Schmidt questions who the Milk Marketing board is working for, the small family farmer or the big corporate farms in Ontario.
He is awaiting sentencing on a contempt-of-court conviction for continuing to supply unpasteurized milk from his small farm.
In January, his main trial is scheduled to get underway in Newmarket.
Yesterday Schmidt went to Queens Park to hold a news conference about his claim that raw milk is no more dangerous than pasteurized milk.
He says the biggest listeriosis outbreak in U.S. history was traced to pasteurized milk and wonders why Canada is the only G-7 country that does not allow the sale of raw milk.
