A resident sent an email to the township asking for something to be done about runoff polluting lake water.
The township has also received a report from the Ministry of the Environment on algae that ends up forming at the mouth of the Pine River.
The ministry hasn’t given Huron-Kinloss permission make the report public yet.
Councillor Anne Eadie says monitoring work done in the past has helped secure grants to improve water quality in the Pine River.
Mayor Mitch Twolan says the monitoring work should continue.
Twolan says it’s the township’s way of keeping residents informed on the health of the Pine River watershed.
He says water quality has been an issue in Huron Kinloss for “quite some time,” and council is trying to be proactive.
