Queen’s Park is providing 643 thousand dollars less in funding for school renewal projects for next year.
Business superintendant Brenda Booth says that means the plant services departments only priority will be emergency repairs.
Booth believes this is for a one year period only and funding levels should return to normal in the following year.
Originally, the Bluewater board planned on spending 3.2 million dollars under it’s Facility renewal budget.
The board business superintendant says the grant cuts are province-wide as Ontario trys to deal with falling revenue during the ecnomic slowdown.
The plant services department is travelling from school to school now, identifying needs and assigning priorities, but Booth adds only emergency repairs will be done now.
